It is our pleasure to tell you about the Harford Youth
Orchestra and Harford String Orchestra.
Membership in the Harford Youth Orchestra is open to all 9th,10th,11th,and
12th grade string,wind and percussion students currently enrolled in their
school orchestra program, where available.
Membership in the Harford String Orchestra is open to all 6th, 7th , and
8th grade string students currently enrolled in their school orchestra
program, where available. Students younger than 6th grade who have studied
their instrument for at least three years are also encouraged to audition
for the Harford String Orchestra.
Both Orchestras will be maintained by an Advisory Board of local teachers,
The Harford County Cultural Arts Board, and in partnership with Harford
Community College.

Mr. Brian Folus
Music Director and HYO Conductor
Mr. Brian Folus is a Harford County Instrumental Music teacher and is on the music faculty of Harford Community College. Mr. Folus is the founding onductor of the Harford String Orchestra.
The conductor of the Harford String Orchestra is
Ms. Anne Pape, starting Fall 2018
Ms. Pape has been the Orchestra Director at Edgewood High School and Deerfield Elementary School in Harford County, MD for the past sixteen years.
The Orchestra Advisory Board will audition prospective members at Joppa Hall on the Campus of Harford Community College. The HYO rehearses at Joppa Hall on the Campus of Harford Community College on Monday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and the HSO also rehearses at Joppa Hall on the Campus of Harford Community College on Wednesday evenings, 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The cost of joining either orchestra will be $150.00 ( subject to change) per semester plus a course fee, upon successful audition each member will be issued a contract stating time and dates of rehearsals and concerts.
The Harford Youth Orchestra and String Orchestra is offered as a non-credit class through Harford Community College.

Funding for both Orchestras is provided in part from grants received from
the Maryland State Arts Council and the Harford County Government through
the Harford County Cultural Advisory Board.
